Featured group: All The Way Live!
I’d like to introduce you to a crew of friends and fam who are making real change happen in a big way, in the lives of both local kids and teens in California and also in places like the Philippines, Taiwan and soon, Nicaragua. Today I got a chance to speak with the man behind the movement, Sergio, and hang out for a little while during one of their team meetings.
In 2006, Sergio began helping out at another charity, where he learned the ins and outs of the philanthropic world. Eventually, using what he had learned, he decided to bring two of his passions together – helping others and the culture of bboying. This resulted in the first All The Way Live event. Now, he and his posse of do-gooders are working hard at producing a new event in September at Ohlone College (in Fremont, California) which will help fund a trip to Nicaragua, where they hope to use dance to positively impact the lives of local children and bboys/girls in several locations. Following the success of ATWL events in Taiwan and the Philippines, Sergio, R.J. and many other of the young ATWL crew continue to show that it doesn’t matter how old or young you are, you can effect great change. It takes a lot of hard work and a lot of positive thinking but working together, the friendly faces of ATWL have brought a little happiness and hope to hundreds, if not thousands, of young people across California and beyond.
